David Louis Product Design

After several months of work, collaborating with local businesses, negotiating exhibition space, tapping local universities for help I am very pleased to announce the launch of the Made in the Jewellery Quarter Exhibition Feb ’12.

David-Louis.com and three other local businesses have teamed up to display to the public a selection of our wares during February 2012, the exhibition will be held in the Gallery Space known as Art at Artful inside Artful Expression and The David-Louis Project.

at 23 Warstone Lane, The Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham B18 6JQ.

The exhibition will showcase designs by Cufflink Couture, LJ Millington, David-Louis and Alabaster & Wilson, between us we have approx. 300 years of jewellery and product design knoweledge so the show case will be varied and beautiful

At the moment I am experimenting with developing apps, I am unsure if this will be just for my own sites of if I will be offering this as a service but for now here is our bottle opener Android App, please do download it and let us know how it goes, if you like it.

How exciting technology is…I have been busy adding our QR code to my Facebook and Twitter accounts as my avatar, a QR code can be used by I Phones and such like to quickly access information, in this instance our QR code will reveal our designs.. please do test it and let us know how you get on.

We have big plans about attaching our QR codes to our trade fair stands and our packaging, just to see how it goes….

about great product design, about our customers and about new design entrepreneurs.

Celebration

What a great time we have been having here at Gifts of Distinction and David-Louis. We have been managing to create growth in our business by raising our game. As our testimonials on the web sites show we have focused on exemplary customer service along side improving dispatch times on all the gift items we sell online.

Mentoring new Designers on TV.

Of late David has been dispensing sound advice to new designers at the School of Jewellery for the students on the Design for Industry course as well as giving a few talks on marketing and writing the perfect press release for new creative entrepreneurs at Design Space. This work was recognised recently and David-Louis has recently featured on ITV news as a mentor, over the coming months ITV will be revisiting David and talking with some of his mentees so keep an eye on our blog for links to the interviews.

Spring Fair 2011

Under the flaskstore and tankardstore banner we recently visited the Spring Fair 2011 and picked up many new suppliers and pressed the flesh with existing customers and suppliers, I was delighted when Alice made time to visit the existing suppliers I couldn’t find, I personally did four halls in four hours, met 20 people and swapped details with 10 new people. So quick and to the point visit this year, we are really lucky the NEC is beside us here in Birmingham.

Pulse 2011

Talking about trade fairs David-Louis.com is exhibiting at Pulse in June 2011 so we will be developing our brand, raising our profile and introducing new products over the next four months in preparation for the event.

New designers and new ideas

David-Louis also hope to work with Simon Pattison the new designer on the scene here in Birmingham and will be commissioning him to produce CAD drawings and turn our concepts into reality, we can see Simon is going somewhere in the design word but before he fly’s the coop and becomes a household name we will be supporting him here in Birmingham.

Finally David-Louis will be engaging a PR Company to focus on driving sales of the David-Louis Beer Cube, we are currently negotiating with Zombie Kitty and are excited about their ideas.

The new ‘Dear Diary’ Hip Flask in a Book may well already look familiar to you. Well that’s because it’s the sister product of the massively popular ‘The Good Book’ Hip Flask in a Book. Based on a similar hip flask within a hard-cover book design, ‘Dear Diary’ Hip Flask in a Book has a slightly more dainty finish that will make a great contrast to the ‘The Good Book’ Hip Flask in a Book. We think both products will look great on any shelf either alone or together.

Next up is the 6oz Premiership Kidney Flask with Football Encapsulation. Over at Gifts of Distinction and Flaskstore we love our football and wanted to celebrate the coming of the new Premiership football season with this excellent high quality lead free pewter kidney flask with Football encapsulation. We personally cannot wait to settle down in front of the big match in style with this wonderful hip flask.

Finally we have the new Absinthe Hip Flask. Based on that hardest of all spirits, this flask certainly isn’t so hard on the eye! Personally this is probably one of my all time favourite Flaskstore designs that we have had the pleasure to sell. It has a unique bohemian flavour that transcends time, fashion and style. I imagine this one will be a real head turner for years to come.
